The Pathan family went to Mumbai hoping that both Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan would both feature in the big final. Irfans team stumbled in the semi-final but they had plenty to rejoice when the final was done and dusted. Yusufs team clinched the trophy and their boy was man of the match. The Pathan family came out of the Baroda airport after witnessing a proud night in Mumbai and usually, the younger Pathan Irfan is the family’s poster boy but the moment belonged to his older brother Yusuf on Monday. The good thing is that if not me at least my brother played the final and he won the match single handedly. He played really well throughout the tournament said Irfan Pathan after his brother’s superb all-round show had helped Jaipur seal the game. Yusuf did all that was asked of him and more in the Royals win on Sunday first scalping three wickets with his off spin and then with the bat making an invaluable half century that included fearless strikes of Muralitharan. At the end of it all the 25 year old was at a loss for words. I am at a loss of words and don’t know what to say. I am just too happy said Yusuf after he was presented the man of the match award and in Baroda there is another inspirational figure now for wide eyed cricket enthusiasts to do dote on. If Irfan gave them belief Yusuf has now reinforced it. Both the boys are from of Baroda that too from the same academy and both are doing so well for themselves at the world stage said a coach of a cricket academy in Baroda. In a few days the brothers will head to Bangladesh to play for India the Pathan family will be watching as will every eye in Baroda and perhaps India.
