MUMBAI: T20 cricket may be a raging hit but not for some ageing seasoned pros. Close on the heels of Mumbai Indians’ Shaun Pollock expressing his reluctance to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Australian legend Glenn McGrath too is likely to follow suit in the second season.

Delhi Daredevils’ cricket director TA Sekar, while being non-committal on the development, said the team officials were yet to speak to McGrath on the issue.

“Has he already spoken to the media about this? I can’t say anything right now,” Sekar said.

The Australian paceman’s personal life had been affected after the death of his wife Jane to cancer five months ago. Besides, his commitments with Cricket Australia (CA) are also among the reason’s cited for his staying away.

A member of the Daredevils camp suggested there wasn’t much hope of McGrath making it to the team this season, though efforts were underway to request him to stay put till the end of his three-year contract.

McGrath was Delhi’s third-highest wicket taker last season after Yo Mahesh and Ferveez Mahroof.
