BCCI agreed to donate 5 million (about R39m) over the next two years to improve the socer activities in India. The BBCI take positive step in helping the financially weak soccer body for money needed to prepare the national team for the 2011 Asian Cup soccer finals in Qatar. “The BCCI will give 250 million rupees (5m) to the All-India Football Federation for the development of football in the country in the next two years,” the cricket board said in a statement. The BCCI, the richest sports body in the country, which earned around 222m in fiscal year 2007/8, has already set aside 11m for the promotion of other sports in India.
This is a positive approach by rich BCCI who has started contributing in other games to bring India into a sports culture. This is a love from cricket lovers to soccer fans in India. I think other boards like Srilanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh should also help hockey and football associations to improve the sports standards in Asia.
