Intenational cricketers should buycot IPL

January 21st, 2010

All International cricket players and cricket board should ban Indian Premier League (IPL). It is a shameful decision of not including the Pakistani players through shameful act of pressurizing the team management to not bid for the T20 specialists Pakistani players. The politics should be away from cricket as cricket is game for peace and love.

This is a time for international players association to act and save the prestige of cricketers and pride of the game. It is really shameful when the cricket fans are being stopped to watch the great display from the current great T20 players. The cricketers have country stamp but not the cricket. It should be carry on without prejudice.

Today it is happening to Pakistan and in future it can happen to other players too. Indian cricket board has members whose thinking is based on racism and hatred while sports does not allow such act because sports present not the nations only rather humanity too.

Recently there were some people in India who were trying to threat Australian players to stop them of taking part in IPL. Instead of banning and threatening the cricketers the cricket should be free of any negative acts. The board of Indian cricket should think again to re auction the players and give a relief to cricket fans.

On the other hand the association of cricketers should take necessary steps to avoid such happening in future to make sure cricket available for all.

Cricket is silent in India

August 20th, 2009

The most busy nation in cricket is India but right now at the moment no special or official cricket in India. There is no news for champions trophy squad too. The players are doing rest while some news are being circulated by local press regarding social life of Indian players. The most missing action for cricket fans is India Pakistan cricket.

Indians are really cricket mad. After cricket or beside cricket is bollywood, Tendulkar and Shahrukh goes together in media but right now Shahrukh seems to be ahead of Tendulkar becuase one can see Shahrukh in cricket news too due to his involvement in Kolkata Knight Riders team.

The Indians must be waiting anxiously for champions trophy which will be played in South Africa and South Africa is lucky for India because they won T20 world cup there.

Anil Kumble hit out at the media

October 15th, 2008

Anil Kumble, the India captain, has hit out at the media’s “uncharitable” comments on his fitness, calls for retirement, and his performance as a player and captain following India’s hard-fought draw in the first Test against Australia in Bangalore.

Kumble went wicketless in a total of 51 overs and a shoulder injury restricted him to only eight overs in the second innings.

In his syndicated column, Kumble said the media attention reminded him of the tour of Australia in January when he had to deal with several off-field issues, including the controversial Sydney Test which was marred by alleged racist remarks and cheating claims.

On the vexed issue of retirement, he clarified that he will quit on his own terms.

“What has also been somewhat unexpected is the way the Indian media seems to have delighted in analysing and sensationalising every little action, remark or gesture,” Kumble wrote.

“I didn’t really expect to have to go through this all over again on my home turf.

“That time, ten months ago, saw me unfortunately having to split my time between playing cricket and handling a host of unnecessary off-the-field issues, instead of being able to concentrate on playing the game and handling my team.” Kumble said he was confident of recovering fully in time for the second Test in Mohali starting on Friday.

Dilip Vengsarkar, the former selection chairman, had slammed Kumble for not declaring his injury before the Bangalore Test and said he should not have played.

“And for those who are wondering, I’m feeling good.

I am hopeful the shoulder injury I picked up during the match should be fine by the second Test and that it will be business as usual thereafter,” Kumble said.

“When I decide to make a final bow, I’ll go on my own terms.” Kumble felt the criticism of India’s performance in the Test was a little too harsh.

Highlighting the positives, he said the bowlers did well to restrict Australia to 430 and praised Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan for scoring half-centuries after the seniors had failed in the first innings.

“Actually, I’m pretty happy with the way things panned out after we lost the toss.

From the look of the pitch, this was a track on which 600 could have been made batting first.

That the Australians took five sessions and more to make about 400 is a reflection on how wonderfully well our bowling unit performed.

“Harbhajan and Zaheer stood up and made sure they not only cut down the lead, but also showed everyone that our tail can handle this Australian attack with ease.

It may also be noted that our four senior batsmen, Sachin and Rahul, Sourav and Laxman, all played a part in this Test.” He also singled out the bowling of Zaheer and Ishant Sharma - they shared 13 of the 16 wickets to fall - who “bowled with heart and spirit to shape the way this series might go.” Looking ahead to the Mohali Test, he said the team certainly didn’t lack self belief.

“I can’t promise things I have no control over, but the one thing that I can guarantee is that I won’t give up the fight.

We won’t.

The belief that I have in my team, and the belief that the team has in me is what matters the most.”

Shane Ware warned indians

September 19th, 2008

The Indians can underestimate the Aussie pace attack at their own peril. Any team spearheaded by Brett Lee and supported by bowlers like Shane Watson, Stuart Clark and Mitchell Johnson has to be formidable under any conditions. It really does not matter if these bowlers are yet to play a Test match in India, their experience of playing here in the past is enough for them to perform in a Test match,” said Srinath, who has been an impressive performer against the world champions in the past.

“As far as the other two seamers – Peter Siddle and Doug Bollinger – are concerned, they are inexperienced to international cricket. The Aussies will surely be banking heavily on pace to rattle the Indian batsmen, as they don’t have an experienced spinner in the line up,” Srinath told Cricketnext.com on Friday.

“It is not going to be easy for Zaheer and Ishant to match the Aussie pace even though the Indian seamers are surely more experienced to conditions at home.Bowlers like Lee, Watson, Clark and Johnson can win matches single-handedly on their day,” the former Karnataka star observed.

IPL is the cause of India defeat

April 6th, 2008

India lost the second test match with a huge margin against South africa. The cricket analyst and old players blamed IPL as the cause of defeat. The Hindustan Times claimed: “The Indian cricket board does not seem to care that the players have to focus on the Test series now, not on the IPL.”

The IPL Twenty20 league begins on 18 April, three days after the third and final Test in Kanpur is due to end.

Ex-India Test wicketkeeper Kiran More claimed the players looked jaded during the match in Ahmedabad.

“How many turned up for the net practice session before the match tells the story,” said More. “The players were already too tired by attending various IPL functions.”

The Hindustan Times also claimed India’s players had not devoted enough attention to their pre-match preparations.

“After the drawn first Test in Chennai, which was played in energy-sapping conditions, the players needed rest so that their minds remained focused.

“Instead, we found that players spent the short rest period before the second Test advertising for their IPL teams.

“In contrast, the South Africans - who are going to play in the IPL circus as well - said no to these shoots. For them, winning the Test series was clearly more important,” the paper concluded.

The Times of India said: “Teams have been bought for millions of dollars and TV rights for a billion too. But it is impossible to predict if it will all be worth it.

“The matches will be played every evening for 44 days. Can a tournament of this nature keep the excitement alive for so long?”
