New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori

May 12th, 2008

New Zealand Daniel Vettori

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori is expected to be fit to lead his country for the opening Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday. Vettori needed two stitches after splitting his spinning finger in the warm-up game against Essex in Chelmsford and the left arm spinner, however, bowled five overs at a single stump at a practice session at Lord’s on Monday and also batted in the nets. Our bowling unit is pretty sound but the times where they have struggled is when we haven’t given them enough rest with the bat vice captain Brendon McCullum was quoted as saying to the Guardian and New Zealand lost the Test series 1-2 earlier in March when England toured their country.
